Synchrony is proud to announce the 2021 Pillars Project Grant winners. When the future was uncertain, they rose to the occasion, adapting to new challenges and nearly constant change.

Cindy Murphy
Bessemer, AL
Cindy Murphy is a volunteer at Foundry Dental Center in Bessemer, Alabama. Foundry Dental Center puts great care and effort in treating patients with disabilities. Through a new program, they can provide low-cost treatments every month for those with severe disabilities. Foundry Dental Center also works with Foundry Women’s Recovery Program, a program that provides workforce skills training to women who are in the process of recovery.

Aimee St.Arnaud
Toledo, OH
Aimee St.Arnaud is the founder of Community Pet Care Clinic in Toledo, Ohio. When Aimee opened the clinic, she had the vision of helping to prevent pets from being surrendered to the animal shelter by providing low-cost pet care for the community. After opening Community Pet Care Clinic in Toledo in 2017, Aimee was able to open a sister clinic, Open Door Veterinary Clinic in Asheville, NC in 2019.

Shad Hattaway, DDS
Carrollton, TX
Dr. Shad Hattaway owns Indian Creek Dental in Carrollton, Texas. Dr. Hattaway started Indian Creek Dental in 2017 with the goal of improving people’s lives through dentistry. Dr. Hattaway recognizes the importance of providing access to people of all abilities and with the help of his wife, a certified American Sign Language interpreter, he and the whole staff can sign and have been able to provide an inclusive experience for hearing-impaired patients.

Tracie Leonhardt, DO
Peaks of Health Metabolic Medical Center, LLC
Largo, FL
Dr. Tracie Leonhardt is the owner of Peaks of Health Metabolic Center in Largo, Florida. Dr. Leonhardt opened Metabolic Medical Center in 2012. After being diagnosed with type II diabetes over 20 years ago, Dr. Leonhardt developed a passion for integrative medicine. With her advanced training in integrative medicine, Dr. Leonhardt now helps others with their own illness by optimizing their nutrition, hormones, and lifestyle.

Frank Vaught, DO
Health on Earth Wellness Center, LLC
Alsip, IL
Dr. Frank Vaught owns Health on Earth Wellness Center in Alsip, Illinois. Dr. Vaught served for eight years in the army prior to opening Health on Earth Wellness Center in 2004. Dr. Vaught strongly believes in supporting and providing medical services to underserved communities, which is why he co-founded Evoke Coaching, a coaching group to help doctors who were first generation college students to start their own clinics.

With a physical therapist on site as well, Dr. Hall helps his clients achieve pain relief and remain active.

Evan Grolley, AuD, CCC-A
Silverdale, WA
Evan Grolley is a co-owner of Link Audiology in Silverdale, Washington. Evan and his co-owner, Natalie Souza, opened Link Audiology to provide hearing services for children in an underserved area. Before opening, hearing testing and hearing aid services for children were only available on the other side of Puget Sound, an inlet separating the Silverdale area from Seattle. With Link Audiology open, local children have easier access to hearing services.

Toby Wisneski
West Covina, CA
Toby Wisneski is the founder of Leave No Paws Behind, Inc. in West Covina, California. Toby opened Leave No Paws Behind in 2011, which is an all-breed, all-foster based rescue specializing in seniors, terminal and end of life animals, and pets with special needs. Since they opened, Leave No Paws Behind has saved over 1,000 cats and dogs.

Paolo Bukovcan
Southampton, PA
Dr. Paolo Bukovcan followed her childhood dreams of becoming a dentist when she first started practicing in her home country of Columbia, eventually moving to the United States to open Sleek Smile Studio in Southampton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Bukovcan has been able to provide dental services for the Hispanic community in her area, with a majority of her patients speaking Spanish as their first language.

Megan Lott, O.D.
Hattiesburg & Jackson, MS
Dr. Megan Lott owns Belle Vue Specialty Eye Care in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Dr. Lott opened Belle Vue Specialty Eye Care in 2016 and became the first visual therapy office in the state of Mississippi offering visual therapy to children. Dr. Lott and her office strongly believes in the power of visual therapy, especially for children, and frequently volunteers to assist with school vision screenings and hold lectures on the importance of vision and learning.
