The Synchrony Pillars Project Grant is a way for SYNCHRONY to recognize small business owners who propel their communities and businesses forward. The Pillars Project will award a total of 10 grants as outlined in the official rules.
Recipients of The Synchrony Pillars Project Grant will receive:
The grant should be used to grow their business or practice in the areas of digital transformation.
Entries for The Synchrony Pillars Project Grant run from October 2, 2023, through October 17, 2023.
NO PURCHASE OR ENROLLMENT NECESSARY. Void where prohibited. The Synchrony Pillars Project Grant is open to small businesses whose principal place of business is in the 50 United States and its Territories, including D. C. and Puerto Rico, that are enrolled or are eligible to enroll as Merchants/Providers accepting a financing solution by Synchrony or its affiliates (each, an “Eligible Entrant”) with thirty (30) or fewer full-time, year-round employees. Eligible Entrants who are enrolled with Synchrony Bank must be in good standing at the time of entry and prize award to be considered eligible. Contest begins at 10:00 a.m. ET on 10/2/23, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on 10/17/23. Sponsored by Synchrony Bank.

No. Eligible entrants do not have to be currently enrolled with Synchrony at the time of entry. All small business owners within Synchrony served industries are encouraged to enter.
Unfortunately, no. We recommend drafting the questionnaire responses offline, and then cutting and pasting the requested answers into the contest forms.
To enter, eligible small business owners will be required to visit The Synchrony Pillars Project Grant website (www.synchronybusiness.com/thepillarsproject) and complete and submit the required information, including a 300-word (or less) response for each of the five questions provided:
Your Roots: Tell us the story of how your business came to be and what makes it unique. Please include how your own passions led you to this pursuit.
Your Community: What impacts has your business had on your community? How did you rally around your community in times of need? Please provide examples of how you exhibited this behavior and actions in 2022/2023.
Your Transformation: The world in which we operate continues to evolve and drive changes in consumer behaviors. Many businesses have adopted digital tools (as defined below) and digital processes to address these changing needs. How have you digitally transformed your business?
Your Vision: Tell us how you would continue your digital transformation and positively impact your community with the Pillars Grant of $10,000 and coaching from Synchrony experts on digital tools? Synchrony can provide coaching and expertise in the areas of: digital marketing, website development, point of sale best practices, social media, paid media, CRM tools, cybersecurity, and recruitment tools (collectively, the “digital tools”).
When complete, applications are submitted by clicking the ‘SUBMIT YOUR ENTRY’ button. All contest applications must be submitted by 11:59 ET on October 17, 2023. Once a small business submits their application, they will not be able to edit any of their answers or business information.
After all of the completed applications are submitted and received, Synchrony, its representatives and a panel of judges will determine finalists based on the Judging Criteria outline. Then, they will be required to participate in a Sponsor-specified live interview to be conducted virtually by a panel of judges, as part of the final judging process. Pillars Grant recipients will be determined by a combination of Essay and Interview scores (75% essay and 25% interview).
Each Pillars Grant recipient is responsible for any and all incremental income taxes resulting from the total value of the applicable prize.
In addition to the $10,000 check portion of the grant, each Pillars Grant recipient will also receive a check in the amount of $3,300 per winner, to help offset taxes.
